All the local groups listed below have sites which give details of meetings, and the person to contact, in addition to the extra pages as described. Note that a few of these groups require membership to belong.

Groups are listed alphabetically by county within England, followed by national sites for Scotland, Ireland and Wales. At the bottom of the list are links for two national organisations which have up-to-date contact details for members.  Note that some groups cover more than one county, so if you can't find your county listed alphabetically, try searching the page.

If you can't find anything relevant in the list, you might like to join one of the general UK home education mailing lists which have members all over the UK. These have links on my mailing list page.  You might also find a group on the HED Map page which has email addresses for some groups, but no site. 

England

Essex, North - new yahoogroups list for anyone in the Tendring area of North Essex

Gloucestershire - local mailing lists to join, and a page about how the meetings work

Hampshire - mailing list for Fareham and Gosport (a Christian group, but all are welcome)

Hampshire, North - mailing list at Yahoogroups for North Hampshire EO members

Hampshire and West Sussex - for home educators in the mid-South of England:  the region of Chichester, Bognor Regis, Havant, Portsmouth and Petersfield

Isle of Wight - the site for the large group on the Isle of Wight

Kent - Wealdon group; creative site with a fable and a poster to print; also WHEN mailing list at yahoogroups

Kent and South East England -  regular meetings in Medway, Orpington and Bromley, and other local events 

Kent - Edenbridge - FLAGS site for families in this area, with weekly meetings and support

Somerset - home education centre, a voluntary group for home educators in the South West of England (Somerset, Dorset and Devon).

Surrey, South West - the PACT site is for home educators who network in South West Surrey, including people from Guildford, Dorking, Woking, Godalming, Farnham, Epsom, Cranleigh and further afield.

Yorkshire, West - yahoogroup offering support for those home educating in West Yorkshire.  There is also a newly created West Yorkshire home education and learning site with information about home educating in the area.

Yorkshire, South - SADCOW mailing list at topica for those home educating in South Yorkshire

Yorkshire - a fairly quiet yahoogroups discussion list for home educators anywhere in Yorkshire.

Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales

Scotland - the Schoolhouse site can advise on local groups in Scotland, and the law, which is different from that in England and Wales

Northern Ireland - legal information and a contact; also HEdNI mailing list - yahoogroups discussion list

South Wales - a yahoo group site for discussion and information about the local network of home educators. Also SWHEN - website for South Wales home educators, and WiseUp, a site for home educators in Port Talbot, South Wales

North Wales - the CLAS (Creative Learning and Support) site is primarily for home educating families in North Wales, with members from all over Gwynedd Anglesey, from Conwy to Bala, and Porthmadog to Barmouth.

South Wales - the WiseUp group is for home educators in the Swansea area, with weekly and other activities

National organisations

Education Otherwise - this national organisation provides resources for members, including an extensive list of local contacts who are available by telephone, and who often know of other local groups which do not have web-sites.

Home Service - this is a Christian organisation, which provides local contact details to members, and may know of other Christian groups which do not have their own web sites.
